Construct Canada is a trade exposition and conference held on December 3 - 5, 2008 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, South Building concurrently with PM Expo, Concrete Canada, DesignTrends, and HomeBuilder & Renovator Expo. This is Canada's largest annual exposition of products, services, technologies, and systems used for the design construction, retrofit, and renovation of all forms of buildings-commercial, high-rise, residential, industrial, retail, and institutional. � Building Products of Canada will once again be part of this event. Asphalt Prices

A number of customers are asking why the prices of asphalt-based roofing products keep increasing, even though crude oil prices started to decline. In addition to crude oil prices, other factors are impacting asphalt costs, including stock availability for the roofing product industry and the peak seasonal demand for paving asphalt. Several oil refineries in North America have stopped producing asphalt altogether, to focus on the production of more lucrative products such as motor gasoline. This has reduced the available supply and as a result, a number of roofing plants in the United States had to shut down or discontinue their operations. The paving industry is also impacted and a number of projects have been discontinued or postponed. Therefore, we expect asphalt prices, including roofing product prices, to continue to increase and encourage you to plan your purchases accordingly.

Many people have seen the Enermax Soundbox Test in person, but now you can experience the superior acoustic performance of Enermax from the cmfort of your own home. The test compares the sound deadening ability of Enermax against the performance of other commonly-used building products such as gypsum board and�extruded polystyrene. The�test consists of inserting a personal alarm, which screams at a level of 110dB, into a common clay flower pot afer which different productrs are use to cover the pot. Sound levels are recorded to determine the�acoustic performance of�each product. As you will see in the video, Enermax outperforms other materials significantly.

NEW POLYETHYLENE WRAPPERS

In order to maintain the high quality levels you have come to expect from us, we are pleased to announce that over the next several months, Building Products of Canada Corp. will be transitioning our current poly-paper wrappers to polyethylene. These new wrappers are comprised of a high-end polyethylene product. Attractive packaging consists of name with stunning color bands, information drawings of a premium roof system and standard nailing patterns that are positioned on the front of the wrapper. Application instructions are located inside the wrapper.�� The polyethylene wrapper is micro-perforated like our former polyethylene coated kraft paper. The micro-perforation allows shingles to breathe. The new wrapper is UV resistant and sealed on all sides.� It keeps its integrity in all weather conditions and does not decompose when wet. In addition, our new polyethylene wrappers are 100% recyclable. Please be advised that we will deplete all stock of an SKU in poly-paper wrapper prior to shipping the SKU in a polyethylene wrapper. Enclosed is a separate sheet showing the new product color bands, and a sample of our new Rampart wrapper. Should you have any questions, please contact your local BP Representative. New BP Pallet Policy

Please be advised that, effective June 1, 2008, Building Products of Canada Corp. will be shipping all of its products on non-returnable pallets. The escalating cost of freight as well as the logistic to support the current returnable pallet policy has forced us to switch to non-returnable pallets. As of June 1, 2008, all our 41"x 54" and 43"x 55" pallets will become non-returnable and will be identified in different ways: Pallets ends will be painted in black or Pallets sides will have the "N/R" identification for non-returnable or Pallets ends will be painted in black and the sides will have the "N/R" mark.
